In the summer of 2024, Kayla Rose van Kooten (UC Berkeley), spent a couple of weeks in Ghent. She was mainly interested in the libraries of Ghent University that offered valuable resources for her Dutch studies. Among others, she attended a symposium on Machine Translation and Literature.
Thanks to UGent professors Lars Bernaerts, Chloé Lybaert and Désirée Schyns for hosting Kayla!
In her own words: "I loved my time in Ghent! The faculty and graduate students immediately welcomed me and involved me. The Dutch Studies program at UC Berkeley is quite small, so it was such a great experience to be surrounded by so many people who are involved with diverse topics within Dutch language and literature. The library was not only beautiful, but an invaluable resource for my own research while in Ghent."
